    The Youth Court

In Northern Ireland, the system for dealing with children and young people, aged 10 to 17, who offend is different and separate from that for adult offenders.

The youth justice system in Northern Ireland aims to:

    • prevent offending and re-offending by children and young people by working with them, their parents and carers
    • support victims of crime to help them come to terms with what has happened

Coming to court can be a stressful experience for anyone, especially for children. Youth Court guides for parents, children and young people can be found here.

A short Video and 3D Virtual tours of some of our Youth courtrooms is available at this link.

More information about attending court is available on www.nidirect.gov.uk
