    Topics:
    • Legal aid,
    • Digitisation of legal aid

Frequently asked questions surrounding financial eligibility on LAMS.

Do I receive email notification if I submit a request for full financial eligibility?

    No.

The status of the application request in LAMS will show that it has been requested and once submitted, the status of the application will change to show it has been submitted.

Why is the cost estimate a required field? This would be difficult to estimate at an early stage in a case.

It is required by LSANI for budgeting and forecasting purposes.

This is required in the current paper form. Using LAMs this field can be updated as the case progresses.

Is there an online eligibility calculator?

    No.

However, the financial eligibility assessment function has transferred to the LSA and in-house access to benefit details will reduce the processing time for means assessments.
