Proceeds of crime Act 2002: Report of the appointed person for Northern Ireland

The Reports of the Appointed Person for Northern Ireland under sections 195 and 291 of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (POCA) are laid before the Northern Ireland Assembly by the Department of Justice pursuant to sections 195I and 291(5) of POCA.

Details

The Appointed Person for Northern Ireland scrutinises the use of certain POCA powers to search for cash which can be exercised without prior judicial approval. The powers are a valuable tool in the fight against crime and their use is closely monitored by the Appointed Person for Northern Ireland.
