    Consultation description

    A new strategy to reduce offending and reoffending in Northern Ireland is being developed.

    This Call for Views invites you to share your views, experience and evidence on the issues that should inform the content, themes and overall direction of the new strategy.

    We want to build on learning from previous approaches and develop a clearer, shared direction across government to respond to the wider factors that contribute to offending and harm.

    Your input will help ensure the strategy is focused, practical and delivers measurable outcomes.

    Why we want to hear from you

    We want to understand:

    • what factors drives offending and reoffending;

    • what works to prevent it; and

    • what should be prioritised in the future.

    We welcome views from:

    • individuals and members of the public;

    • victims and survivors of crime;

    • people with experience of the justice system;

    • community and voluntary sector organisations;

    • practitioners and frontline staff; and

    • academics and researchers.

    We would also welcome relevant evidence, research and examples of good practice to further inform the development of a draft strategy.

    A formal public consultation on the draft strategy is planned for 2027, providing a further opportunity to comment before final decisions are made.
