AccessNI is a branch in the Department of Justice. Its role is to process applications from members of the public who require a criminal record check for employment purposes. AccessNI issues 3 types of check

|Standard||For Security Industry Authority licences or professional occupations for example lawyers, accountants||Through SIA, an employer or their representative.||Spent and unspent convictions, cautions and informed warnings|
|Enhanced with/ without a barred list check||Working or volunteering with children or vulnerable adults, taxi licences or working with controlled drugs.||
Through an employer or their representative or licence provider.
|As Standard, plus relevant police information and where appropriate a “barred list” check|
