Details

The Department of Justice Northern Ireland commissioned this project to:

  • examine the existing research into jurors’ perceptions of special measures and the influence of such measures on the outcome of trials
  • document existing procedures in place in Northern Ireland and other UK jurisdictions for the identification of vulnerable witnesses
  • provide recommendations for best practice and a template for needs assessment that could be used by PSNI to assist the early identification of vulnerable witnesse
