Statement from Justice Minister Naomi Long
Date published:
I want to express my shock on learning of the terrible tragedy that has occurred in Ballymena.
I send my heartfelt sympathy to the family members affected and to the wider community in the Ballymena area.
I know that many people will be shocked and deeply saddened by what has happened. I would urge anyone who needs support at this time to contact the services provided within the Health and Social Care system, and by the voluntary and community sector.
I would like to thank police officers and first responders who attended the scene of this tragedy.
It’s important that the families and friends affected by this tragedy are afforded privacy and respect. And as the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) continues its investigation, I would caution against speculation and commentary online.
