  • Bail Support Pilot Scheme – Pre-Market Engagement

    Topics:
    • Safer communities

    Date published: 9 September 2025

The Department of Justice, alongside criminal justice partners, Department of Health and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, is currently developing a Bail Support pilot scheme for women, to offer the judiciary as a robust alternative to remand.

The Department is seeking the views and expertise of the voluntary and community sector to help inform and shape the direction of the pilot, as well as establish the level of market interest in participating in a potential grant process to deliver the pilot.

This pre-market engagement is aimed at organisations with relevant experience of providing services and support to individuals with complex needs, such as substance misuse and/or mental health issues. It would be helpful but not essential if the organisation had experience of working with individuals that have had contact with the criminal justice system.

We would be grateful if organisations could complete the survey here: Pre-Market Engagement - Bail Support Pilot for Women - NI Direct - Citizen Space.  This will be live for 3 weeks from 22 August to 12 September 2025.

If you have any questions about the scheme or the pre-market engagement exercise, please do not hesitate to contact the Reducing Offending Policy team via email
