Applications open for Chief Inspector of Criminal Justice

The Department of Justice is seeking to appoint a Chief Inspector of Criminal Justice in Northern Ireland.

The role of the Chief Inspector of Criminal Justice is to secure improvement and greater co-operation between justice agencies including the police service, prison service, public prosecution service, youth justice and courts, providing a better justice system for the whole community.
Justice Minister Naomi Long said: “This is a challenging and demanding position with a public profile that requires a high calibre individual with the appropriate skills and experience. The successful candidate will provide leadership, build effective relationships and drive improvements.”
The Chief Inspector’s office is based in the Stormont Estate, Belfast. It is a full-time post which carries a salary of £126,514 and is for a three-year term. The successful candidate may be eligible to apply for a second term of appointment.
The closing date for applications is noon on 17 October 2024. Interviews will be held in November 2024 and the appointment is expected to commence November/December 2024.
