    Consultation description

The Department of Justice is seeking comments on the draft guidance. The purpose of the proposed guidance is to assist chief officers to make decisions about whether information held by police in relation to individual applicants is reasonably believed to be relevant to the purpose for which the enhanced criminal record check is being sought and, if it is, whether it should be disclosed. This guidance sits alongside the Quality Assurance Framework document that sets out the detailed processes and procedures that chief officers should undertake when assessing information. The statutory guidance is a set of principles that chief officers must have regard to in addition to applying the detailed processes and procedures correctly.
