    Summary

The Northern Ireland Audit Office (NIAO) published a report (March 2020) on both the PSNI Injury on Duty Scheme (“the Scheme”) and the Northern Ireland Civil Service Scheme, which applies to prison officers. The report recommended that the Scheme should be reviewed to ensure that the financial support currently given to police officers, and their families, for injury or death in the line of duty, meets modern day requirements and remains sustainable in the future.

In this consultation the Department is seeking responses to nine questions concerning areas of the Scheme.
