    Summary

    This consultation is seeking your views on proposals by the Department of Justice (DoJ) to amend firearms licensing fees as set out in Schedule 6 of The Firearms (Northern Ireland) Order 2004 (“2004 Order”).
    It is also seeking your views on proposals to make amendments to Schedule 1A of the 2004 Order, commonly referred to as the “banded system”.

    Consultation description

    Respondents are asked to answer the 11 consultation questions.  The best way to respond to the consultation is online here at NIDirect Citizen Space.  There is also a questionnaire on the Department’s website which can be emailed to feb@justice-ni.gov.uk.

    The closing date for receipt of responses is 29 May 2026.  Please note that it is unlikely that we will be able to consider responses received after this date.
