  • Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland

The Police Ombudsman investigates complaints from the public about the conduct of police. The Ombudsman is independent and the Minister for Justice has no role in her investigations or reports.

You can make a complaint to the Police Ombudsman if you are unhappy about the way the police treat you. You can make a complaint about police officers or some other people who work in police stations. The Police Ombudsman can look into your complaint and suggest what should be done about it. She also looks at very serious complaints that people make and at things the Minister asks them to. She can also decide herself to look at things. The Ombudsman publishes reports and other recommendations to make policing better.

You can find out how to make a complaint on the NIDirect website
