    Following a recent decision of the UK Supreme Court in the case of O'Brien v Ministry of Justice (MOJ), Justice Minister David Ford has written to the Lord Chief Justice of Northern Ireland to put in place a moratorium for the tribunal judiciary sitting in tribunals for which his Department is responsible.

    Pension scheme for fee paid Tribunal Judges

    On 1 May 2015 the Department of Justice in Northern Ireland issued an information note to eligible Tribunal Judiciary to bring them up-to-date on changes to judicial pensions and plans to introduce a new pension scheme for fee-paid Tribunal Judges.

    The purpose of the moratorium is to remove the need for potential claimants to lodge a "protective" claim from 1 May 2013.
