    Topics:
    • Legal aid,
    • Legal Services Agency Northern Ireland

    Date published: 24 April 2026

The Legal Services Agency Northern Ireland (“the Agency”) has the authority, under the Civil Legal Services (General) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2015, to require Assisted Persons to attend interviews to check whether they are still financially eligible for legal aid. As part of its fraud prevention work, the Agency has delegated this responsibility to the Department for Communities’ Standards Assurance Unit (SAU). The SAU will carry out these interviews on behalf of the Agency under the Future Overpayment Prevention scheme. This letter confirms the terms of that delegation.
