The Department of Justice launched a public consultation in June 2012 on proposals to extend the use of live video-links in certain court proceedings. The consultation contained proposals as to how the Department planned to introduce the use of live links for certain types of witness; court; and court-related proceedings in the interest of delivering a faster, fairer justice system.
